This Cookie Policy explains how Risala (operated by [Company Name]) uses cookies and similar technologies on risala.tech and inside the Risala application. Read this together with our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, and pixel tags — work the same way. Together they let a site remember who you are between page loads and across visits.
Strictly necessary— required for the Service to function. These cannot be switched off. They keep you signed in, protect against cross-site request forgery, and remember the workspace you're currently viewing. Examples: Firebase authentication tokens, session cookies, the dark-mode preference.
Functional — remember preferences such as your dashboard layout, currency, audio-player volume. Without these the app still works but resets to defaults each session.
Security & fraud prevention — a privacy-preserving browser fingerprint is calculated at sign-up to detect repeated trial abuse. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Analytics — aggregated, anonymised usage telemetry that helps us understand which features get used. We do not run advertising or third-party tracking pixels.
__session — Firebase auth session (necessary).firebase:authUser:* — local-storage entry holding the signed-in user (necessary).theme — dark / light preference (functional).risala-layout-* — dashboard tile layouts per page (functional).visitorId — anonymised browser fingerprint, signup dedupe (security). The first time you visit Risala, a cookie banner asks you to choose between Accept all, Reject optional, or Manage preferences. Strictly necessary cookies are always set because the Service cannot run without them (sign-in, session continuity, fraud prevention). Functional and analytics cookies are only set if you opt in.
Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under risala_cookie_consent_v1 alongside the date you decided. We re-prompt after 12 months in line with UK ICO guidance, and any time the available categories change materially.
To change your mind, clear that key in your browser's site data — the banner will reappear on your next visit. We're also adding an in-app preferences panel so withdrawal doesn't require touching browser dev tools.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or using the Service.
We may update this policy as we add or remove tools. Material changes will be communicated via in-app banner at least 14 days before they take effect.
